Fluorinated ethylene-propylene (FEP), also known as a tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer or perfluoro(ethylene-propylene), is a polymer made from the monomers tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The material is fundamentally characterized by chemical inertness, high-temperature resistance, high flexibility, and good melt processing. GREMCO takes advantage of these exceptional material properties to manufacture special FEP tubing for a wide range of applications. These products are made from 100% certified PFOA hyperlink-free resin and thus meet the highest quality standards. Furthermore, FEP tubes are easy to clean without the risk of damage from any solvents.

Usage as UV spirals

Due to their UV resistance combined with a high transmission rate, FEP tubing is ideally suited for use as UV spirals in water purification systems. While water is pumped through the FEP spiral is permanently exposed to direct UV radiation. This kills potential germs in the water, while the FEP tube remains unaffected. To provide the most efficient and direct radiation, GREMCO manufactures the spiral using a unique manufacturing process. The tubing is wound around a UV lamp through which the liquid passes during the cleaning process. This complex manufacturing process allows the finished product to transport a significantly increased volume of water into the effective area of the radiation for an extended period of time. The process is equally suitable for the purification of polluted industrial water as well as for the treatment of contaminated groundwater. In conjunction with modern filter technology, drinking water quality can be achieved.

Other applications for FEP tubing and UV spirals

Primarily due to their chemical inertness in combination with the excellent formability of the material, FEP tubing, and products, as well as UV spirals, are used for numerous other applications. These include:
