Medium- and thick-wall FITCOTUBE® shrink tubing made of polyolefin with and without adhesive coating is characterized by consistent, high-ratio shrinkage. Compared to thin-wall shrink tubing, the significantly higher wall thickness ensures optimum electrical and mechanical insulation, pressure-tight sealing, and excellent protection against moisture. In addition, the aforementioned GREMCO products are self-extinguishing as well as resistant to most chemicals. Their excellent properties are due to the sophisticated production process, including co-extrusion, cross-linking, and expansion of GREMCO heat shrinkable tubing. Accordingly, our products are specially adapted for all sectors of the energy-, automotive, aviation, environmental, electrical, and medical industries. Both our medium-wall and thick-wall FITCOTUBE® heat shrink tubing are halogen-free and prove to be temperature resistant up to 105 °C. Note that this value may differ for various internal adhesives. The adhesive (film coating) is applied by co-extrusion for all diameters.
Thick-wall FITCOTUBE® shrink tubing covers a total of about 3-4 percent of the overall market demand for heat shrink tubing and is essentially considered to be a product for applications in the medium-voltage range, i.e. in the range between 1 and 36 kV. Primarily, these are used on joints as cover sleeves to ensure a moisture-tight connection between the cable and the joint. Prominent examples of thick-wall heat shrinkable tubing are our GHWA/GHW (GREMCO Heavy Wall Adhesive Tube) products. They are available both with and without internal adhesive. Fully compatible, these can be used in the temperature range between -55 °C and 110 °C, with a minimum shrink temperature of 120-140 °C. After cooling, GHWA heat shrinkable tubing becomes very rigid. Generally black in color the tubing is available in the lengths 1 m, 1.2 m as well as 1.5 m.
Generally, our medium-wall FITCOTUBE® shrink tubing is characterized by its high flexibility, moisture resistance as well as excellent shrink properties. Consequently, they are excellently adapted for use in electrical insulation, corrosion, and moisture protection for all areas of energy supply, telecommunications technology, and pipeline construction. Demand for the electrical insulation property is preferably in the low-voltage range up to 1kV. A suitable product example is our GMWA/GMW tubing, likewise optionally available with or without inner adhesive. Medium wall heat shrinkable tubing may also be supplied with a bituminous adhesive, providing excellent corrosion protection. The permissible operating temperature ranges from -55 °C to 110 °C, with a minimum shrink temperature of 120-140 °C. The usually black GMWA shrink tubes feature shrink ratios of up to 4:1. Furthermore, they are available in lengths of 1 m, 1.2 m, and 1.5 m and with a diameter range from 8 to 300 mm.
Our LV Joint Kits comprise kits for low-voltage electrical connections, based on medium- and thick-wall heat-shrinkable tubing sections. Such LV Joint Kits include 4 medium-walled sections for wire insulation and one thicker-walled section for sheathing the joint, along with the necessary installation instructions, a cleaning cloth, and an emery cloth. Our LV Joint Kits are tested to the highest quality requirements, providing CENELEC approval HD 629 / VDE 0278.
